Mrs Elstone Miss Lowthian and Miss Burns

Class 3 is a combined class of Y5 and Y6 pupils. We work in the class 3 space mainly for our core subjects and sometimes in Class 2 for foundation lessons. Mrs Elstone teaches the Y5/6 cohort English and Maths along with Miss Burns. Mrs Elstone also teaches World Views and Religion and PHSE to all KS2.

The Y5/6 group have a number of specialist teachers which is good preparation for Secondary School: Mrs Tinkler - Computing, Miss Lowthian - Science and Music, Mrs Walsh - French, Mrs Cousin - PE, Mrs Hogdson - Art and DT (this year 2023 -24).

Class 3 have a lot of responsibilities to help with the smooth running of the school. Often they take the key roles on School Council, are buddies to the youngest pupils and have jobs to do such as helping clear up after lunch.

Class 3 students are encouraged to run their own clubs and have a number of opportunities to represent their school 'out of school' provided that they follow the behaviour plan and show the Bolton Values such as the numerous sporting tournaments and things like Debating at QEGs or the Quiz at Asby Primary.

Each December, Class 3 is very involved in the Christmas Performance that includes the whole school and pupils are expected to work hard learning their lines and making props or costumes.

Class 3 also enjoy many opportunities to join up with their peers from cluster schools in a range of events and visit the local secondary pupils as part of a transition programme.

Year 5/6 are invited to go on a residential in the spring term with 3 other local schools which also helps with secondary school transition. One year is a History/ Geography focused experience going to York and the following year it is at an Outdoor Activity Centre to develop physical skills and risk and resilience.
